When Antoine de Saint Exupéry met Consuelo
in 1929, he was already a well known aviator and a talented
writer. Consuelo was an attractive pretty young lady. Beautiful
expressive eyes lit up her regular featured face. She was
fully imaginative, and spoke French with a light accent which
added to her charm. It is essential to know Consuelo to understand
the man who took her as his wife.
Consuelo's influence on her husband
was obvious because she was essentially an artist and a story teller.
Saint Exupéry as a writer and sketcher drew
on the original poetic sources of his wife to write and illustrate
some of his texts and particularly his last book Le Petit
Prince.
