Consuelo and Antoine de Saint Exupéry
were deeply in love, often though Consuelo's exuberant and profoundly
Latin behaviour was regarded as frivolous. Consuelo's
exciting and imaginative life was often wrongly condemned. After
her husband's death she suffered a lot of a lack of recognition.
During all her life she sheltered behind the secure shadow of her
husband. Many of her paintings and sculptures representing Le
Petit Prince were signs of faithfulness towards her husband.
Consuelo never forgot that Le Petit Prince was the last link with
Saint Exupéry before he disappeared."Le
Petit Prince is born out of your burning passion"
wrote Saint Exupéry in 1943. Consuelo
answered: "I am in the small living room in Bevin House; Le
Petit Prince is in front of me on the table where he was
born".
